Joseph Ong: Confessions of a Fotoholic

photo taken by Lito Inso

Joseph Ong's knack for photography is evident in the multiple galleries he has on wedding and  fashion photography. Joseph Ong's venture towards  photography ended up to charm him and there was no stopping him. With no formal training, he took it upon himself to learn more about  photography and hone his craft.

In an interview he had with James Robinson on an advice given to him by another photographer he says:
"There are no bad subjects but there are bad photographers."
This is a line I have found to be very challenging and motivating.

Photography is Joseph Ong's form of self expression.
His latest photos, "Dreamer of Dreams" give us a glimpse to the
fascinating way he sees the world and his spot on intuition.

Celso Pepito: God's Warrior

Celso Pepito's painting style is modernist that works towards cubism. He has created his own style that has made him stand out in the Philippine art scene especially in Cebu.

In every painting, you will notice an octagon shape rising at the top of the canvas which symbolizes hope.

There are 3 geometrical partitions in his artwork. First, has to do with strengthening family ties. Second, spirit of nationalism. Lastly, embraces religious spirituality.

With every artwork that manifests from Celso Pepito, he incorporates the Filipino culture.

How Many Friends Do You Know on Facebook??

50% of people are fine with being friends with complete strangers on Facebook. Well, how many friends do you REALLY know on Facebook? or are you strictly facebook friends ONLY? You know what I'm talking about.. it's your Facebook friends you see around yet you don't quite know if you should say hi to them but on Facebook you continue to stay Facebook friendly - liking their comments, pictures and etc.

"How many friends do you know" is a Facebook application that tests how many friends you ACTUALLY know on Facebook. Test it out yourself!

The Social Network movie is coming out Oct. 1st and here are alittle Facebook tidbits:
1) There are 500 million active users on Facebook.
2) The average Facebook user loses 23.333 hours a month on Facebook. What else could you be doing with that time?

Chatroulette Star

Admittedly, I've gone on chatroulette with friends ahem... honey, daverick. First, it was out of curiousity and ones or twice out of boredom. Along with the "usual" people that dwell on chat logs, you might find yourself in front of a live audience.  During a live concert in Charlotte, Ben Folds used chatroulette and played improv about the people he was in a chat log with!

Advertisers have also been very creative and have used chatroulette to advertise The Last Exorcism.

Highschool Painting

A reproduction that I've done in highschool using watercolour. Haven't been painting in awhile and would love to get the time to do so.

Think Outside the... What?

You know how people say, "think outside the box" especially during group projects and coming up with really really unique ideas.

I say, there wasn't a box to begin with.

It's like asking someone to think of anything aside from thinking of an elephant in a room. And... the first thing you think of is an elephant in the room!

An Ode to University

You know how they say, potentially great ideas can start in the classroom. If not, in your dorm room. Most companies began in university just like Mark Zuckerberg and his social networking site, Facebook. It is incredibly successful and I've become one of those people who check facebook ridiculous amount of times a day or stay signed on all day. Insomnia Cookies, started by UPenn students started baking and now have a cookie and milk delivery business to campuses.

As a class project, we are tasked to write a blog primarily about advertising and marketing however, I will be adding in things that are current and that interest me. This blog could turn into a potentially good idea depending on how it goes and maybe be classified as an expert for a certain topic because of this blog. Who knows.... wish me luck!

Here's to start ups, failures and everything in between!

Any comments and ideas, I'd be glad to hear from you!!! :)

Cheers!

A Credo For Life: Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.
Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.
